Yesterday we started the audition process for Bye Bye Birdie, teaching the kids their song and dance material and giving them a chance to look over sides that they think will show off their acting skills. But, before all of that the kids were warmed up using some fun games that also teach various theatre skills like focus, quick reactions, character development, and more! One of their favorite games is Captain on Deck, which Brian also enjoys as he gets to use his wit to trick the kids into messing up, not always an easy feat! We also played Samurai and Dinner Party, games that require concentration and stealth. After warming up the kids were split into groups to learn music and dance- boys learning to sing "Put On A Happy Face" and girls learned the music to "Lovely to be a Woman", and all learning the dance moves to "Got A Lot of Livin' To Do". Everyone did fantastic and Connie was really impressed with not only their dance skills but also their enthusiasm to learn dance big! The kids then spent the rest of the morning practicing lines with friends, gearing up for the afternoon's auditions, which went very well and continued to Wednesday. Here are some photos from the morning, we can't wait to see the kids today finish their auditions!
