Today on Fun Day Friday we ran through the entire show.... twice.
After a great second run through we spent the last hour playing some fun and exciting games. The kids dressed as characters from any fairytale they wanted today. Some characters included Belle, Princess Anna, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, the Big Bad Wolf, and other fairytale roles. Only one week left until our official performance of Into the Woods Jr.! :)

Today at camp we perfected some technical moments and specific scenes within the show. The students also played some fun games in between their scenes.
Don't forget tomorrow is Fun Day Friday, and the kids are encouraged to dress up as any fairy-tale character they want! Today we used the entire day to finalize blocking and cues for the show.
Take a look at the pictures for a closer look at the amazing show! The past few days of camp we have been super busy rehearsing and putting together different elements of the show. Our mornings here at The Rose normally include two workshops teaching the students about different elements of theatre. Today's classes were about marketing and advertising for the show on Sunday, August 13th, and a special theatre games workshop. In the afternoon, we use every minute of our time discussing the final production. The past couple of days we have been bringing in and trying on costumes for the show, and discussing in depth hair and makeup for the performance. The kids practically have the show memorized, so each day we continue to run and polish every scene. The show will be here before we know it! Set your calendars for Sunday August 13th at the Emerald Event Center for a great journey Into The Woods. :) We can't believe it's already been three weeks of camp!
The students have even super busy rehearsing their songs and dances, and memorizing their lines for the upcoming production of Into the Woods Jr. Our first performance is in exactly two weeks! Today, on Fun Day Friday, the theme was Cinderella. The students dressed up as characters from the story. The most popular costumes included Cinderella (both glamorous and as a peasant), mice, and the cat Lucifer. What a fun three weeks we've had so far! We can't wait for two more! :) Today, on Day 10 of camp..
It was FUN DAY FRIDAY! Today's fairy-tale theme was Jack and the Beanstalk and many of the kids dressed up as characters (or objects) from the classic story. Popular costumes of the day included Jack's mother, the cow (Milky White), the beanstalk, and the golden egg. After a day full of music rehearsal, practicing lines, and blocking, we ended the day with an hour full of fun games that the students seemed to thoroughly enjoy. We can't believe it's already been two weeks! 3 weeks from today we will put on the first official performance of Into the Woods Jr.! On Day 9 of Theatre Camp...
Our morning of workshops included an art project where each student assembled a tree to contribute to the set for the show, and one workshop full of ensemble building theatre games where the students had SO MUCH FUN. In the afternoon, we continued rehearsing and blocking the show. It's really starting to come together! :) On Day 7 of Theatre Camp...
We had a morning full or workshops. The first was an ensemble building workshop, where we played some fun games to bond the cast and build trust among one another. The second workshop was about painting a picture with music. Here the kids listened to and discussed how parts of music can hold emotion and energy, and represent many different feelings. In our afternoon rehearsal, we finished blocking a good chunk of the first part of the show. Everyday more and more elements are coming together. Just over three weeks until the final production! :) Today, on day 6 of camp...
We had an ordinary day, including a morning of workshops and lessons about dance, movement, and improvisation, and concluding with an in depth rehearsal for our upcoming production. After practicing some songs and dances for the show, we can really see Into the Woods coming together. We can't wait to continue this amazing progress! :) On Day 5 of our Center Stage Camp we... Warmed ourselves up with a game, then split up into two groups to participate in two different workshops. One workshop was about fairy-tales, and the other provided helpful public speaking tips with some information on storytelling and acting within a certain environment. After lunch, we reviewed choreography, then we went Into The Woods for rehearsal. We closed the day with some more fun theatre games. Today was our very first Fun Day Friday: Red Riding Hood edition. The students dressed up as different characters from the classic fairy-tale. We had an awesome first week! We can't wait for 4 more! :) |
