We then started to learn our choreography for Pirate Island. We moved on to our Acting unit and finished blocking scene 1 of Pirate Island and rehearsed our songs; You are a Pirate and the Pirate Island Song. Only one more day before we dock for the weekend. - Introduction: reviewed pirate, ship and island names.

We finished our name tags and began to learn about the beginning of our story.
Next we learned three of our pirate songs. We learned a call and response, accompanied by piano and guitar. We learned about choreography with a movement game and ended the game with a silly picture. We finished our acting game and reviewed our stage directions. We ended our day learning about art. We began to paint the sets for our production, including a tropical island. We had a lot of fun! Homework Bring art shirt Study music Pick a pirate name Think of a fun ship name Today in summer camp we started off with getting to know you games and ice breakers.
We played a theater game called all hands on deck. This game introduced our theme for the next two weeks which is pirates. After being introduced to these theater games we did some script work learning music and reading pirates past noon. Then we learned about terms of theater. Our focus today was stage directions; upstage, downstage right and left stage. We played a game to put these new terms into action. Last we made pirate name tags and departed for the day. Our 2017 Overture Camp was a great success - Enjoy the images that were captured during our week of camp - "Act Like an Animal!"
