There is excitement filling the air at camp today because we open our big show tomorrow! We rehearsed, REHEARSED, and ReHeArSeD today to make sure we were ready for all of our family and friends. We ran through music with Mrs. Susan and dance with Mrs. Connie and we even found time to make some gaudy jewelry for our costumes. Please remember to practice your music, dances, and lines tonight and come dressed and ready for the show tomorrow with 70s appropriate attire and CLOSED TOED SHOES!!!! See you then!!!
Riddle Today: 30 white horses on a red hill First they champ then they stamp Then they stand still. Answer from yesterday: Fish Today we played everyone's favorite game Captain & Tennile On Deck in which us counselors discovered that the kids have gotten exceedingly good at. Brian has had to get very creative and tricky at getting the kids out! This is one of JD's favorite games as well as you can see in the photo below! We ran through the entire show, including the dance numbers, so please make sure that the kids are running through their three dances while singing and their lines, especially if they cannot read yet. We are confident that everyone will be great and cannot wait to see the kids put it all together. Lastly, we finished up by making some costume props for the boys' number- Kung Fu Fighting. They will look fantastic onstage!! The answer for yesterday's riddle: A pillow Today's Riddle: Alive without breath; As cold as death, Never thirsty, ever drinking, All in mail, never clinking. All of the movin', shakin', rockin' and singin' continues to get better and better here at Spotlight Camp! We're getting closer to our performance of DISCO DAYZ this Friday at 11:15 AM, so be sure you're planning to attend! Today was simply a wonder. We had so much fun dancing and playing games with Mr. Brian. We learned how to become a robot that cleans houses with only our bodies! We showed of our growing vocal abilities with our new Disco Medley, and we even taught an uncoordinated dentist a few sick moves. Tomorrow is going to be just as fun so get PUMPED!!
STAYIN ALIVE LYRICS: Well, you can tell by the way I move my walk I'm a groovy cat; no time to talk Music loud and dinner warm, I've been kicked around Since I was born And now it's alright, it's OK And you may look the other way We can try to understand The New York Times' effect on man Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother You're Stayin' alive, stayin' alive Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin' And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah ah ah ah stayin' alive! What a week: 3 different songs each with their own choreography learned. After putting our noses to the grindstone this morning with a bit of rehearsal, we did a read-thru of our script (memorize by Wednesday!) and went outside for some Captain & Tennille, Tug o' War & Dramatic Freeze Tag during which I lost a shoe and fell : ( At any rate, we're looking forward to hitting the ground running on Monday. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the video below (I got the moves). RIDDLE ANSWER FROM YESTERDAY: Coffin. TODAY'S RIDDLE: This thing all things devours; Birds, beasts, trees, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; Grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats mountain down.
Practice practice practice--rehearsing is such an important part of theatre, and so today we continued to work on our big opening number: Car Wash. From what we have heard from the parents, our campers have been practicing their singing at home too!
While on a break from rehearsing today, we had the chance to revisit one of our favorite games too, called Captain and Tennille On Deck! Today we danced and Danced and DANCED with Mrs. Connie, saved our friends from zombies and channeled our inner Aretha Franklin! We even squeezed in some music rehearsal with Mrs. Susan. Day two was definitely successful and we can't wait to do more tomorrow!!!
TODAY'S RIDDLE: I am not alive, but I grow. I don't have lungs but I need air. I don't have a mouth, but water kills me. Who am I? YESTERDAY'S ANSWER: Breath I think it's fair to say our first day together was excellent. We learned a couple of theatre games to improve our alertness, reflexes and improvisation skills; began learning Car Wash for our showcase next Friday (sneak peek below); and overall had a great time and met some very cool new people. It's going to be a great two weeks. |
